About Our Pothole Repairs

Potholes form when water gets into cracks and traffic loading or the freeze-thaw cycle breaks the surface apart, and left alone they spread, deepen and undermine the sub-base; we repair them in driveways, yards, car parks, access roads and farm tracks across Nottinghamshire. A proper repair means cutting back to sound material and squaring off the hole, making good the sub-base if it's failed, then tack coating and compacting the new tarmac level with the surrounding surface.

Common Questions

Why do potholes keep coming back in the same spot?

If the sub-base underneath the tarmac has failed, a surface patch alone won't hold for long. Where we see this we'll flag it and recommend digging out and rebuilding that section properly rather than just patching over it.

Can potholes be repaired in winter?

Yes, though cold and wet conditions affect how tarmac lays and cures. We'll advise if a job needs a cold lay material or is better off waiting for a drier spell.
