Farm roads and access tracks take heavy machinery, livestock trailers and constant all-weather use, often over ground never built up to take that load, and LB Construction builds and repairs them across Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire. Construction starts with excavating soft ground and laying a compacted stone sub-base with camber, ditching or culverts to shed water, and repairs usually focus on rebuilding drainage and the sub-base at weak or rutted points rather than resurfacing the whole length.

Common Questions

Do you need to rebuild the whole track or can you just fix the bad sections?

Often it's the wet or low-lying sections that fail first while the rest of the track is fine. We'll assess the whole length and quote for rebuilding the sections that actually need it rather than automatically pricing the whole track.

What surface is best for a farm access road?

It depends on how the track is used. A compacted stone sub-base on its own can be enough for occasional use, while tracks that see heavy or daily traffic often benefit from a dressed or tarmac surface on top.

Can you sort out standing water on a track?

Standing water is usually down to poor camber, blocked ditches or a lack of drainage crossing the track. We look at drainage as part of any farm road job, not just the surface.
